 The Legacy of Dayton O. Hyde is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in the  state of South Dakota. Legacy of Dayton O. Hyde is  devoted to rescuing wild horses and letting them roam free on private land. The Sanctuary is a forever home and safe haven for unwanted wild horses and animals that make their home here. To protect wild horses' freedom, ensure their humane management on public lands, and oppose the use of lethal methods or sale for slaughter.

Donations to Legacy of Dayton O. Hyde is to help save wild horses and present them with a second chance of freedom on private land.Bureau land management gathers thousands of wild mustangs and takes them to auction, or sale for slaughter. Kill pin buyers will takes these wild horses across boarders like Canada and Mexico to slaughter plants. Most of  the wild mustangs here today were rescued by advocates and saved from slaughter. 

Legacy of Dayton O. Hyde is not only to care and provide freedom for horses but to work towards the preservation of wild horses and their habitat for future generations of America's iconic wild horses through education, advocacy. Wild horses grazing helps create open space, allowing other plants to thrive. To develop education and conservation programs to improve, restore habitats, and to support self-sustaining wild horse populations in ecological balance with other wildlife. Our program is funded by bequests, donations, grants, and the sale of items online. 

To continue the Legacy we will keep rescuing America's wild horses and offer them their second chance. The staff and Sanctuary members are all devoted to giving wild horses a forever home with the care and maintenance it takes to restore their quality of life.
